Digging for Fire

I see the night sky as a jewellery store window and my mind is half a brick

Tag Jackpot

Wooahh!
Went to add Steven Johnson's post to Del.icio.us and my screen lit up like a christmas tree. The equivalent  of tag jackpot. How did that happen? Is it just that the post hits all the right notes with my tags or is it something to do with the metatags on the post? Will have to investigate further.

The PC Void

When I come across something really interesting I keep wishing that I could capture it in some kind of tool similar to the way that Steven Johnson uses DevonThink (well described in his post Tool for Thought back in January 05).
The responses to his post suggest that Mac users have a host of apps that cater for this type of organisational tool including Tinderbox and the macs own Spotlight but no one offered an alternative for the PC (correction there was a mention of AskSam). Does this reflect on the collective requirements of the mac userbase, the quality and diversity of the Mac software vendors/developers or the more mainstream nature of the PC.
More to the point where are the new PC/platform independent applications that fill the gap?

Library Thing, the New All Consuming?

I found Library Thing through Giornale Nuovo (a brilliant blog).

I've been kind of looking for an alternative to All Consuming (I'm not convinced yet that All Consuming is still the book reference app for me since it has been picked up by the Robot Co-op).

I suppose it mighr be worth running them both over the next week to see how they compare (I wonder if anyone has already done this).
